The Typical Tree Removal Price Range

Tree removal is priced job by job, and in Raymore the usual charge typically runs $546 to $741 a tree.

That is a published local range, not a flat rate. Where a tree lands in it, or outside it, comes down to the tree itself and the yard around it: a modest tree in an open front lawn is a quicker job than a big one leaning over the garage with no way in for a truck.

So we do not price a tree over the phone. We come out, look at the tree and what sits under it, and quote the whole job before any work starts.

What Changes the Price

Height, trunk size, lean, how we get equipment to the tree and what it could fall on change how long the work takes and how hazardous it is, and those two things set the price.

What moves a tree removal price:

  • Height

A taller tree comes down in more sections, and every section is another cut and another lowering.

  • Trunk diameter

A thicker trunk means heavier pieces, more wood to haul off and sometimes a bigger machine.

  • Lean

A tree leaning toward the house has to be cut and steered away from where it wants to go, which is slower than dropping it into open lawn.

  • Access for equipment

An open drive lets the truck and chipper pull up close. A narrow side gate means a "spider lift", a small tracked lift that fits through, or carrying everything out by hand.

  • Structures and lines nearby

A roof, a fence, a shed or overhead wires under the canopy mean "controlled rigging": each piece lowered on a rope instead of dropped.

  • Dead or decayed wood

Dead wood is brittle and harder to climb and rig safely, so every cut takes more care.

The OSHA Tree Care Industry page sets out the fall, falling-object and electrical hazards of this work, which is why a tree over a roof costs more to take down than the same tree in an open yard.

Why Storm-Damaged Trees Cost More

Storm-damaged trees take more labor and more care than a tree taken down on a scheduled day, so the work often costs more, sometimes roughly double.

A split trunk, an "uprooted tree" lying on its roots or a "hanger", a broken limb caught in the canopy, can shift as it is cut, so it comes apart slowly and with more rigging. When a tree is already on the house, that is "emergency tree removal", and the call comes first.

We answer the phone or call back the same working day.

Cleanup, Hauling and the Stump

Not always: some quotes leave out the cleanup or the stump, so a quote should say whether hauling, chipping and stump grinding are in the price.

Where removal is quoted at an hourly rate, cleanup is often left out of it and billed separately as an add-on crew. That is how a low number on the phone turns into a bigger bill with the brush still lying on the lawn.

We quote the whole job before we start and clean up when the work is done, and the quote says in writing whether the stump is being ground.

What a Written Quote Should List

A good quote names the trees, the method, what happens to the wood and the stump, the cleanup and the total, with no charges added after.

What a tree removal quote should spell out:

  1. Which trees

Each tree named or marked, so nobody guesses on the day which ones come down.

  2. How they come down

Felled whole into open ground, cut in sections and roped down, or lifted out in a "crane-assisted removal".

  3. Wood and brush

Whether the brush is chipped and hauled, and whether the trunk is left in rounds for you or taken away.

  4. The stump

Ground out or left standing, and if it is ground, what happens to the grindings.

  5. Cleanup

Raking the lawn, clearing the drive and hauling off the last of the debris.

  6. The total price

One number for the whole job, with no charges added once the work is done.

We quote the whole job before we start, with no surprise charges after.
