Forestry Mulching in Raymore

Forestry mulching grinds brush and small trees into mulch where they stand, in a single pass, with nothing to haul away.

"Forestry mulching" is a way to clear brush without bulldozing it or burning it. Instead of cutting the scrub, dragging it into piles and trucking it off, a mulching machine chews it down on the spot. The chips land on the same ground they grew from, so the soil is left covered rather than scraped bare.

It is the quick way to take back ground that has gone to scrub: cedar creeping along a fence, brush closing in a path, saplings filling the back of a lot. The trees you want to keep stay standing, and we work around them.

How a Mulcher Turns Brush Into Ground Cover

A forestry mulcher is a tracked machine with a rotating drum of steel teeth on the front: it shreds standing brush and saplings and spreads the mulch over the ground as it goes.

The drum

The spinning drum is lowered onto the brush, and its teeth shred it from the top down, stems, branches and all, until it is ground off near the soil.

The tracks

Tracks spread the machine's weight over more ground than wheels do, which matters on pasture and wooded ground that is soft after rain.

The mulch it leaves

What is left is a layer of shredded wood where the brush stood. It holds the soil, breaks down over time and leaves no brush pile behind.

Fence Lines, Trails and Overgrown Acreage

Mulching suits overgrown fence lines, trails, pasture edges and wooded lots being opened up, and the mulch it leaves keeps the soil covered against erosion.

Jobs forestry mulching suits:

  • Fence linesBrush and saplings cleared back off a fence so you can see it, reach it and fix it.
  • Trails and pathsWalking, mowing and riding paths cut back open through woods and scrub.
  • Overgrown pastureScrub and young cedars ground off pasture and field edges that have started to grow back in.
  • Wooded lot thinningThe understory cleared out of a wooded lot, with the bigger trees you choose left standing.

Because the ground stays covered, mulching is a good fit for Raymore slopes and ditch banks where bare soil would wash away.

When Full Land Clearing Fits Better

Large trees, stumps that have to come out and ground that will be built on call for land clearing instead of mulching.

A mulcher grinds brush and small trees down to the ground, but the roots stay in the soil and big trunks are more than it is made for. If Raymore land is headed for a house pad, a driveway or a lawn, it needs clearing.

What brush mulching costs

Every piece of ground is priced on its own, so we walk it before we quote. The price comes from how much brush there is and how hard it is to get to.

  • How much ground is being mulched
  • How thick the brush is and how big the saplings have grown
  • The lay of the land: slopes, ditches, rock and ground soft after rain
  • How the machine gets in, through a gate or along a drive
  • How close the work runs to fences, buildings and trees you are keeping

The estimate is free, and the whole job is quoted before we start, with no surprise charges after.

Residential and Commercial Land

Mulching works the same on residential acreage and on commercial land, and the commercial work we take on is the same list of services on our home page. A brushy strip behind a building or an overgrown edge along a lot is mulched the way a pasture fence line is.

Call and describe the property. We will say on the phone whether it is a job we take, then come out and quote the whole thing for free.
